Guided Tour Ruhr 2 Mülheim city walk
There is only one downtown district of all the Ruhr cities actually situated at the river which gave the region its name - that of Mülheim an der Ruhr. Below the church hill where once the Lords of "Mulinhem" (home of the mills) resided and around the oldest remaining Carolingian castle in western Europe (Schloss Broich) at Europe's most navigated river (between 1780 and 1850) the biggest, most important and grandest city of the Ruhr rose.
Why Mülheim lost its status is one of the stories You'll hear on this compact stroll through the heart of the city. And there are quite a few things which make Mülheim exceptional: In the city
Europe's biggest trust ever was founded and managed!
the second factory on continental Europe was located!
the Ruhr can float upwards!
residential districts for millionaires were laid out!
TV-stars are sitting in ice-cream parlours!
Druids meet!
a Red Indian chief rode through the city!
someone experienced his revival in the forest!
the world-famous "Mülheim process" was developed!
you find "Jobs" and "Joy of life" in the streets!
All this seems very unlikely? Try our guided tour through Mülheim and You'll see.
