About coal and miners
The visitors will see the well preserved Pit Zollverein Shaft XII surface mining buildings. The guided tour leads you from the shaft house where once the coal arrived through the old separation plant to the coal washery where coal was processed and loaded.
The participants will get to know the production process of the world's once largest and most powerful hard-coal mine, learn something about the working and living conditions of the local miners and hear interesting facts about architecture, nature and transformation to a modern cultural centre.
