Ruhr District Tour 2 Town and plain by narrow gauge
A tram tour across the Ruhr district
Get in, take a seat, lean back and enjoy: A historic tram offers a convenient way to explore the Ruhr district. Sure, the distance from Oberhausen to Hattingen can be covered more quickly than in seven hours which are arranged for this great tram tour. But you wouldn't see as much - and you would not learn anything. With this tour you will be served with history, stories and anecdotes by our professional tour guide.
The historic tram from the 1960s will take us first to the direction of Castle Broich in Mülheim, later through the city of Essen up to a tram depot, where we will have a break with stew and soft drinks. Strengthened we will continue the journey passing the UNESCO World Heritage Pit Zollverein, the harness racing track of Gelsenkirchen and the Pit Holland in Bochum-Wattenscheid.
After a view to the inner city of Bochum the journey finally ends in Hattingen - guided tour included. During the round tour through the picturesque historic old town with all its small alleyways and cute frame houses the participants will experience a lot of interesting facts about the history of the town.
The return to Oberhausen will be done by public transport.
